Every time I think the golden age of gaming is over and corporations have fully converted my passion into soulless skinner boxes, it takes something like this to keep me optimistic and enthusiastic.
THIS is awesome tech is what we dreamed about – not gacha boxes or DLC fomo!

[Real president]Is it like a solid vision? “Yu-Gi-Oh!” Distribution system that summons monsters in reality https://t.co/hWIE70DMSD
Built by a French YouTuber. Display the 3D model of the monster on the distribution screen and reproduce the scene as if you are wearing a duel disk and fighting. Card information can also be displayed. pic.twitter.com/Y0gr3rcdZj

Seven months of work for a breathtaking result
Zouloux recounts that he was inspired by CrownCorpa YouTube channel that had already presented a project application, allowing to play Speed Duel Yu-Gi-Oh! in augmented reality, thanks to connected glasses, in order to see the animation of the cards. After seeing what Orelsan was doing with holograms during one of his concertshe also wants create a way to play Yu-Gi-Oh! In 3Dbut Zouloux wants to do even better: he wants do without these glasses and a cleaner realization. He therefore created this connected carpet, in seven months of work.
And self-taught projectand to which various people have been added over time, in particular to work on the electronics of the treadmill. Note that Zouloux had to chip the cards so that the carpet would recognize them all: he explains that he thus installed 3600 RFID chips on cards. A titanic work but which is well worth it when you see all that this carpet changes in the way of broadcasting card duels.
A rug that does the work itself!
The carpet allows various things: first, it recognizes all cards chips! This means he can display real-time 3D monsters when the map has 3D animation. Even if it is not a monster card, the carpet recognizes the map and will automatically display it at the top right of the screen, so that the spectators of the duel can see it big. It was one of the important points in this creation: that everything is clearly visible and automatic, live on Twitch. A real challenge, but Zouloux got there.
Better, his carpet makes the realization of the live himself ! Indeed, the carpet is directly connected to the diffusion, and when a card is placed, he chooses the camera to use in order to show the animation as well as possible to the spectators. In other words, no need for a team of directors, producers, cameramen, animation managers, etc… Here, Zouloux can start a live on Twitch for a duel and the connected mat will manage the broadcast itself. Players use a StreamDeck to perform certain actions, such as tell a card to attackor specify to the animation engine that a card is hiddenetc.

We are amazed by the phenomenal work and the impressive result of Zouloux’s project. You can watch his videos in the article to discover the manufacturing process and the first duels he made with this connected mat. Note that Zouloux announces to broadcast at least one duel session with this mat per month on his Twitch channel.
On the side of video games, we recently learned the box of Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links at Konami, in which players have collected over 77 billion cards! On the side of the less joyful news of the news of Yu-Gi-Oh!, the creator of the manga, Kazuki Takahashi, unfortunately died while trying to save several people from drowning, near Okinawa.
I propose the Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Master
