Surprisingly, Sony today announced the release date of PlayStation VR2. The PS5 VR headset will be available in stores starting in February 22, 2023 at the price of 599,99 euro in Italy. Pre-orders will begin on November 15, 2022.
As reported on the PlayStation Blog, atinside the package headset, PS VR2 Sense controllers and a pair of stereo headphones are included.
A bundle with Horizon Call of the Mountain at a price of 649.99 euros. Also on February 22, the charging station for the controllers will also be sold separately at a price of 49.99 euros.
The launch of PlayStation VR2 will be accompanied by a line-up of 11 games designed specifically for the viewer, including the aforementioned Horizon Call of the Mountain.
The PlayStation VR2 includes several new features over its predecessor, such as eyetracking technology, 3D audio, as well as adaptive triggers and tactile feedback from the Sense controllers.
Obviously there is also a substantial hardware upgrade, with the viewer that mounts two OLED lenses with 4000 x 2040 resolution (2000 x 2040 per eye) and HDR support. The design has also been revised, and now the headset is slimmer and lighter than the previous model. New features include a new integrated ventilation system for increased air circulation and a lens wheel adjuster to customize the experience.
