Samsung again provoked Apple for not including a foldable smartphone in its portfolio.
The new ad, available now on the YouTube platform, is called “On the Fence” (on the fence) and is set in an Apple store…
Samsung gives its own explanation for why Apple doesn’t have a foldable smartphone
Every now and then, Samsung likes to throw a tease at its rival Apple, with some ads and videos that draw attention to the smartphone portfolios available from both companies.
This time, the South Korean giant focuses its attention (and provocations) on the fact that Apple does not yet provide a folding smartphone.
Samsung’s new “On the Fence” ad is now available on the YouTube platform and takes place in an Apple store. Then a customer climbs over a wall and starts looking at a Samsung store.
The Apple employee arrives and asks him what he is doing on the fence and he says that in the Samsung store there are “foldable smartphones and epic cameras”. In an attempt to win back the customer, the Apple employee tells him that he is waiting for foldable smartphones to also arrive at the Apple store “because that’s what we do, we hope”.
The ad ends with images of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4, and in just 30 seconds Samsung manages to launch “two barbs” to Apple regarding the absence of folding in its portfolio and sensors with resolutions equivalent to those that already exist in the Android universe, much higher than the 48 megapixels provided by the Pro models of the iPhone 14.
In the midst of the tease, it also offers an explanation for why Apple has yet to launch a foldable smartphone. Apparently, the Cupertino company is waiting…
Apple: before the launch of the foldable, the AR/VR headset should arrive
Many have been talking about a foldable model with Apple signature. Several news have already reported patent applications made by Cupertino for hinge mechanisms, however the market still does not have an Apple model of this type.
In fact, according to rumors released so far, it is quite possible that Apple’s much talked about AR/VR headset will reach users first than a foldable smartphone.
Everything indicates that the device will arrive in the first quarter of 2023 and about the foldable Apple there is not a single clue about the date of its arrival on the market.
Several sources have already pointed out the new headset as Apple’s next big bet, not only at a technological level but also in marketing, pointing it out as a possible replacement for the iPhone, in the next 10 years.
And that may be the explanation for Apple not having yet launched a foldable smartphone. They may not be “waiting”, but rather have strategically chosen to follow another path.
