After a long series of negotiations we now know that The Continental, John Wick’s prequel mini-series, will be distributed by Amazon Prime Video outside the United States. Composed of only three episodes, The Continental is expected to debut in 2023 on Peacock for the domestic market and on Prime Video for the rest of the world. As the title suggests, the hotel made famous by the films starring Keanu Reeves as the protagonist will be the backdrop to the events.
The absence of the infamous John Wick, however, should not scare the fans. The authors promise a cinematic experience. Also for this reason, they explain, it was decided to narrate some events of the past in just three episodes. A solution that does not require diluents.
Already known part of the cast. If the big absentee is Keanu Reeves, the actors who will take part in the project will not be outdone. The protagonist of the story seems to be Winston – in the films played by Ian McShane – whose “young version” will have the face of Colin Woodwell. Along with him, another key character always seen at the assassins’ hotel is Charon (the ‘concierge’ with the face of Lance Reddick) played here by Ayomide Adegum. Other cast members with unspecified roles include the likes of Ben Robson, Hubert Point-Du Jour, Jessica Allain, Mishel Prada, Nhung Kate and Peter Greene. An absolute movie star like Mel Gibson closes the circle.
Also in 2023, but with a more precise date and that is March 24, we will also have John Wick: Chapter 4. In addition to the return of Keanu Reeves, the aforementioned Lance Reddick and Ian McShane will also reprise their roles, just like Lawrence Fishburne. We already have a first teaser trailer of the film.
