“The creative mind of Warren Spector unveils a new game set in a strange yet strangely familiar world,” says Otherside Entertainment’s website. As with Warren’s previous work in the Immersive Simulation genre, the world will offer players the opportunity to “choose a play style” – to decide how to interact with a deeply simulated environment.
“But keep in mind that the choices you make will have consequences, big and small, and will directly affect your experience. You will be able to team up with your friends to weave a unique story unlike those of other players.”
Unfortunately, there are no additional details on the site, but there is a logo:
The multiplayer approach is new not only for the Spector, but also for immersive sims, which tend to be single-player. That was what attracted him in the first place.
“I’m a tireless advocate for immersive sims,” Spector told IGN. “I’ve been thinking for years, ‘What’s the next step in immersive simulation?’. I think I’ve figured it out… It’s time to try multiplayer.”
Spector later said in an interview that the multiplayer component would work on a relatively small scale, rather than with dozens or hundreds of players running around at the same time.
Spector has very high hopes for Argos: Riders on the Storm. “If people want something ‘unique and innovative’ then even I look at what we’re doing and think we’re crazy,” he said. “The team is doing more than I asked for.”
