Information about the One Piece series on Netflix is often scattered with the wind, like Luffy’s boat at the beginning of the manga. Nevertheless, land is in sight for those waiting for the live-action adaptation: evidenced by showrunner Steve Maeda’s recent post.

One Piece: good news for those waiting for the Netflix series
It is a large-scale project that was announced by Netflix in 2017: that of adapting in live-action series one of the most popular and colossal manga of all time with One Piece. A project so gargantuan that for five years there has been little information and the release date seems to be hidden in the depths of a bottle thrown into the sea. In any case, it seems closer than ever with the recent declaration from Steve Maeda, the showrunner of the series:
Post-production, vers 2022.
It is today on Twitter that, the one known for having worked as a screenwriter on X-Files, Lost: The Disappeared or even CSI: Miami, published a photo of him explaining that he was in post-production.
One Piece Live-Action on Netflix: what to be optimistic about?
Something to reassure those who are waiting firmly for this television adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s manga. If such statements do not specify the release of the series, they have the merit of showing that things are progressing on the side of Netflix after the first three years of scarcity. Today, we know a good part of the cast and the narrative arcs covered by this adaptation. We also know that the filming has been completed since the end of August, thanks to the message of the actor who lends his features to Sanji.
In any case, we can give ourselves the right to see the glass half full and wait for the One Piece live-action series from 2023: of course, we will wait for an official communication from Netflix to make sure and we will moderate our enthusiasm. The most optimistic (or impatient?) can also hope for a first trailer that will illustrate the first maritime adventures of Luffy and company… while praying hard that she does not have the same fate as l’adaptation de Cowboy Bebop.
