As communicated in recent months, Ghost of Tsushima will be the subject of a reinterpretation of the product in a cinematic sauce and the film will be performed entirely in Japanese and with an oriental cast. Not surprisingly, following in the wake of Uncharted’s film projects, Sony has rode the wave of excitement around Ghost of Tsushima.
The adventures of Jin Sakai have rekindled interest in Japanese historical games and, precisely for this reason – and not only -, Sony has declared that Ghost of Tsushima will also be subject to a transposition of mediums. However, to date, no further information has been received about the status of the project, partly due to the long timelines that separate the official presentation of the film from the announcement of the start of the works or the declaration of intent only. The wait around the work deriving from the creative inspiration of Sucker Punch, the talented team that has recently turned twenty-five and whose name is associated with great videogame products such as the Infamous saga, is really high.
However, as mentioned before, up to now there was no information, but there would be some news. We knew, in fact, that Chad Stakelshi would direct the entire project – the director is also known in the cinema scene for having worked on the John Wick saga -, but Stakelshi himself stated that the team produced one “good script“, although some details are still subjected to a process of revision, in order to maintain a narrative coherence between the videogame work and the filmic one.
“With regard to Ghost of Tsushima, it’s on my list of things I’m dying to direct. We’ve been working on a really good script, but we’re still working on some details because it’s a brand new game. Anyone who has played Ghost of Tsushima will notice how intricate the visual style is. “We certainly can’t speak of” work in progress “, although knowing that the script is complete makes the project more alive than ever, allowing us to know a little more about the making. of the final result.
The wait for the Ghost of Tsushima movie is still long. The still embryonic state – at least in part – of the works could suggest that the announcement of the film’s release date may coincide with the announcement of a possible second chapter, assuming that the two events will happen over the next few years. and that Sucker Punch is grappling with a second chapter of Ghost of Tsushima since 2020, the year of publication of the game. As there is no official information, however, this remains mere speculation, even though Stakelshi’s own statements have shown that the Ghost of Tsushima film project is not stuck, but the exact opposite. What do you think of the possible success of a film dedicated to Ghost of Tsushima?
