At the end of the week, the developers at Striking Distance Studios provided the third part of the pre-release documentary for “The Callisto Protocol”. This time everything revolves around the themes of helplessness and humanity.
In order to sweeten the waiting players’ time until the final release of the horror adventure, the developers at Striking Distance Studios started a multi-part documentary that talks in detail about “The Callisto Protocol”.
While it’s in first part the documentary was about the horror experience of “The Callisto Protocol” itself, turned the second edition about the dense atmosphere of the horror title. The third part of the documentary is now available and takes up topics such as the helplessness and humanity of the characters. The brutality of the fight and the atmosphere of “The Callisto Protocol” are also discussed again.
The third part of the documentary has a running time of around 15 minutes and lets various leading figures of Striking Distance Studios have their say.
Developers deliberately play with the feeling of helplessness
According to Glen Schofield, in The Callisto Protocol, helplessness is a physical condition that can be brought on by things like not having enough ammo or the right weapon. Even moments when it is unclear where the journey will lead next can cause the player to feel powerless or helpless.
Added creative director Scott Whitney, “It really should be a situation where you’re struggling through every single encounter because of the kind of resource scarcity you feel.” eponymous Jupiter moon Callisto due to monsters in a merciless fight to the death.

The horror title, overseen by Dead Space co-creator Glen Schofield, will be released on December 2nd, 2022 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
