Batman has lost his voice: Kevin Conroy has died

Kevin Conroy has passed away at the age of 66. Fans and celebrities like Joker voice Mark Hamill mourn the loss of their Dark Knight.

The world of DC enthusiasts has lost color as it was made official on November 10, 2022 that actor Kevin Conroy has died at the age of 66. Over the decades, Conroy has shaped a voice in the DC Universe like no other, that of the Dark Knight Batman. Kevin Conroy was hired as a voice artist for Batman: The Animated Series back in the 1990s, and has since gained even more notoriety when he also lent his voice to Batman in the Arkham Rocksteady games.

Kevin Conroy was THE voice of Batman, and understandably fan bases around the world are mourning the loss of the actor, who has reportedly died of cancer (via Mirror).

“The Joker” is also inconsolable

Actor Mark Hamill, world-renowned for his role as Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars saga, but also for voicing Batman’s Nemesis Joker in many DC productions, shared a message about his colleague’s death, first via press release by Warner Bros. Animation and then shared via Twitter.

For many generations, Conroy was the definitive Batman, they say. “It was one of those perfect scenarios where they got exactly the right man for exactly the right role, and the world made a better place as a result. […] He will always be my Batman.”

Warner Bros. Animation’s official Instagram account also shared a picture and a message: “Warner Bros. Animation is deeply saddened by the loss of our dear friend Kevin Conroy. His iconic portrayal of Batman will forever remain among the finest portrayals of the Dark Knight belong in every medium.” We too send our warmest thoughts to Kevin Conroy’s family.
