Ash vs Evil Dead
A nod to the Evil Dead franchise, Ash vs Evil Dead brothers and directors Raimi, presents us with a delirious tone with special effects evoking the 90s! Always there, we find Bruce Campbell as Ash Williams, wacky and popular in his portrayal of this cult anti-hero. Hero in spite of himself, he will have to save the world from the forces of evil. The series was canceled in 2018 after three seasons due to lack of ratings. A remake under the title of Evil Dead Rise, by Lee Cronin, is scheduled for April 2023 on HBO Max.
Dahmer: Monster – The Story of Jeffrey Dahmer
Victim of his own success, Dahmer: Monster – The Story of Jeffrey Dahmer arouses as much morbid fascination as it does controversy. Ryan Murphy immerses us in the dark life of Jeffrey Dahmer, the cannibal of Milwaukee. This serial killer, played by Evan Peters in the series, was the author of numerous crimes in the 80s in the United States. Dividing, the critics parade and many say that despite the quality of the program, it is difficult not to feel uncomfortable in front of this Netflix Original. The families of the victims as well as Lionel Dahmer, the father, wish to sue Netflix for the series as well as the documentary Jeffrey Dahmer: self-portrait of a killer.
Hellbound is the political and terrifying adaptation of a Korean comic also called webtoon. As mysterious creatures arise without warning to kill humans, these manifestations are perceived by the population as divine manifestations. Yeon Sang-ho keeps us in suspense throughout a rich season 1 of six episodes. We are witnessing Korean religious fanaticism which obviously uses violence to achieve its ends. This conflict reminds us of the time of the Middle Ages, a period when religion dictated the life of the population.
Love, Death + Robots
Are you a fan of new things? Don’t like to rehash the same stories over and over again? Well Love, Death + Robots is made for you ! This series of animated shorts comes in the form of an anthology. Clearly, each episode offers a different and independent story, and wraps itself in a graphic style of its own. A fourth season is announced by Netflix.
Adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s fantasy graphic novels, Sandman was a success with readers of the comic book, but also neophytes subscribed to Netflix. For those wondering, due to a rights case, references to the DC Universe have of course been removed. The first season follows the plot of the first volume, where Morpheus the King of the Realm of Dreams, wakes up after having been imprisoned for a century by an evil wizard. If you are unable to join Morpheus to fall asleep, you can always accompany him on his journey by watching this series.
The Walking Dead
It’s one of the major series of the last decade… and more! With 11 seasons on the clock, The Walking Dead has been unleashing passions since October 2010. Nevertheless, AMC has announced that the iconic show will end on November 20, 2022. After 12 years of good and loyal service, the adventures of the men facing the prowlers are coming to an end. In this work, we follow Sheriff Rick Grimes and his group of survivors who survive a zombie apocalypse. Falling into a coma at the start of the pandemic, a policeman wakes up in a world in ruins. In this post-apocayptic universe, the survivors will quickly realize that the living are much more dangerous than the dead. During the 2010s, the show experienced an incredible surge in popularity. Alongside Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad, the series reached peak popularity during this period. It attracted 15 million people to their television sets every week when season 5 aired.
Van Helsing is a fantastic series that revisits the myth of Van Helsing by modernizing the framework of the plot, but also the themes addressed throughout the television saga. Started in 2016 and ended in 2021 after a fifth and final season for a total of 65 episodes, the show produced by Syfy presents Vanessa Hesling, descendant of the famous vampire hunter. The series immerses us in a post-apocalyptic world plagued by blood-sucking creatures, and is inspired in particular by the Helsing series of graphic novels published by Zenescope Entertainment.
In a world gripped by terror, the last humans still alive are struggling to survive. Indeed, a zombie apocalypse drastically reduced the number of sentient bipeds. In the midst of this disaster, one hope remains: Murphy, a former prisoner. The latter is the lucky holder of a vaccine against the epidemic responsible for the proliferation of the living dead. Broadcast between 2014 and 2018, the series Z Nation includes a total of 5 seasons for a total of 69 episodes. Commissioned by Syfy, the work later ended up on Netflix.
