Director Rian Johnson hinted in an interview with Total Film magazine that he is much more interested in the development of the Knives Out film series than it seems at first glance.
According to him, the series will continue as long as he and Daniel Craig can continue to “have fun, get really new experiences every time and find new ways to challenge themselves.”
“But the second we feel we are repeating ourselves, we have to stop. For me, the concept of the series is the same as that of Agatha Christie with her books: every time we do something new and amazing, ”he said.
Johnson admitted that for some time he thought to take a break and do another project. But he liked the filming process too much, and the task of coming up with a triquel in such a way that it differs from the previous parts is incredibly intriguing to him.
The sequel with the permanent Craig starred a different cast from the first part, namely: Jessica Henwick, Janelle Monae, Dave Bautista, Catherine Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Madeline Kline, Kate Hudson and Edward Norton. Knives Out: The Glass Onion will release on Netflix on December 23rd.
In the spring of 2021, it became known about the deal, according to which Netflix spent $450 million on the second and third parts of Johnson’s film.
