Journalist Jeff Sneider revealed on The Hot Mic podcast that Abner Ravenwood will be the protagonist of the series in the Indiana Jones universe. At least that’s what insiders told him.
According to him, the project is being developed as a prequel to Raiders of the Lost Ark. It was in the first part of the film series that the name of Ravenwood, the mentor of the famous archaeologist and father of Marion Ravenwood, who died before the main events, was mentioned.
Although Ravenwood holds special weight for the franchise, he has never been featured on screen. This opens up a lot of room for Lucasfilm to represent the character.
The creation of the series became known earlier in November. It doesn’t have a script yet.
Harrison Ford and Phoebe Waller-Bridge will release Indiana Jones 5 on June 30, 2023. For the first time in the history of the film series, the director was not Steven Spielberg, but James Mangold (“Logan”). Spielberg, however, remained in the project as a producer.
