Tesla may start shipping cars made in China for sale in the United States🇧🇷 The rumor began to circulate this weekend, and the information was shared by two different sources within the company’s production chain.
According to these executives, Tesla’s factory in Shanghai was upgraded earlier this year and has the capacity to deliver up to 1.1 million electric cars a year.
However, with the troubled inflation crisis in China, many local consumers have put off plans to switch cars. Therefore, there is a growing stock formation in the country and this could be bad for the automaker controlled by Elon Musk.
On the other hand, despite having four factories in the United States, Tesla still struggles to meet local demand for specific models.
Thus, for the automaker, it is more interesting to import the surplus from China than to expand production on American soil.
The expansion of factories in the US also brings another problem that does not exist in China: the high cost of labor.
Commenting on the matter on Twitter, Elon Musk, founder and CEO of Tesla, said “mistake”. He only used that word to deny and did not go into further detail on the matter.
It is worth remembering that with the recent arrival of Musk on Twitter, Tesla has been losing market value. In addition, the company also faces some problems with its vehicle technologies.
