Expected in commerce during the first half of 2023, the Google Pixel 7a promises to be particularly interesting: it should widen the gap with the Google Pixel 6a released this year.
Information leaks continue at Google: after the rumors about the Pixel 8 last week, it’s now up to the Pixel 7a to be talked about. Currently in development under the codename Lynxthis terminal, destined to become Google’s new entry-level model in the coming months, looks particularly attractive.
A Google Pixel 7a that could make the difference
It is the developer Kuba Wojciechowski who explains on his Twitter account that he has information concerning the Google Pixel 7a. According to him, the 5G terminal could be equipped with two Sony sensors on the back: a 64-megapixel Sony IMX 787 as the main sensor, and a Sony IMX 712 as the ultra-wide-angle sensor.
When we know that the main sensor of the Google Pixel 6a is a 12-megapixel Sony IMX 363, the evolution between the two models promises to be particularly interesting and it could allow the Google Pixel 7a to go much further in its photo-related proposition. And that says a lot about the ambitions of Google, which delivered a very good performance with the Google Pixel 6a this year.
A better screen for the Google Pixel 7a?
If Google is always expected on the side of the photo with its smartphones, it should also be noted that the quality of the screen of its devices is always scrutinized. Thereby, one of the criticisms made against the Google Pixel 6a was the presence of a panel whose refresh rate was blocked at 60 Hz.
According to these new rumors, Google has decided to review its copy for the Pixel 7a. This model could be equipped with a refresh rate of 90 Hz, with Full HD definition. We can assume that the panel will be OLED, like that of the Google Pixel 6a.
Finally, the other interesting information to remember is the potential presence of a wireless charging system within the Google Pixel 7a. This addition would be notable, since in the price segment of the device – around 450 euros for the Pixel 6a – it is really very rare for this function to be offered. Google could therefore make an impression by allowing owners of its cheapest terminal to recharge it wirelessly.
When will the Google Pixel 7a be available?
The Google Pixel 6a was released on July 29, 2022, having been introduced shortly before by the company. We can therefore expect the Mountain View company to follow a similar schedule for the Google Pixel 7a. The 5G smartphone could therefore arrive on the market in the middle of summer 2023: this is information which remains to be confirmed, however, as are the rumors mentioned in this news.
