Head Xbox Phil Spencer in conversation with the publication The Verge discussed transfers Starfield and Redfall. Recall that initially a new role-playing game Bethesda was supposed to be released on November 11 this year, but it was postponed to 2023. A similar situation happened with the vampire shooter arcane, which was due out this summer.
Spencer said that he was well acquainted with Todd Howardhead of Bethesda Game Studios, and Harvey Smithcreative director Arcane Studios. With them, he discussed at what stages of development both projects are.
Starfield and Redfall are the first major Xbox games with ZeniMax on board. The decision to give the development teams the time and support they needed was the right one, Spencer said. Studios may also have experienced some benefit from being part of a larger organization with other sources of income.
Spencer noted that Xbox has several internal teams that are always ready to help developers who have encountered technical or production problems.
Of course, the transfers entailed certain financial consequences, but they were taken into account when making a decision. Spencer hopes that in the end, both Starfield and Redfall will only get better, and the audience will get a more immersive gaming experience.
