After a complicated start, the marketing of the Fisker Ocean seems to be just as complicated. The first models will be delivered incomplete to customers.

The shortage of semiconductors has given, and still gives, a hard time for manufacturers. If the delivery times are considerably extended due to missing parts on the cars, some manufacturers have chosen to deliver their models anyway, even if parts are missing and software is sometimes incomplete.
Tesla, for example, delivered cars without USB ports, promising customers to add them later. Peugeot also, at the end of the marketing of the previous generation of the 308, delivered cars without a digital instrument panel, but with conventional needle counters.
Production will start at all costs
Tesla and Peugeot are far from the only ones concerned. Indeed, Fisker, which has not yet started marketing its very first electric model, has already specified that the first Ocean will be delivered incomplete.
Henrik Fisker’s company intends to respect its battle plan and start production of its Ocean, an electric SUV competing with the Tesla Model Y, in November. The production lines at the Magna factory in Graz, Austria have started up. Enough to make the first deliveries at the beginning of next year.
But to meet this date, Fisker had to make compromises, since the Ocean will not ship all the features initially planned, the software is not yet complete. This story is also reminiscent of that of Volkswagen at the launch of the ID.3.
Thus, several driver assistance systems will not be available immediately, but only after an update. Among the systems that will not be included at the time of delivery, there will be blind spot detection, line tracking and anti-collision alert.
And obviously, that doesn’t seem to bother Henrik Fisker too much: “There are a lot of customers who don’t care, so why wait to launch the vehicle? And you know, you might have it in three, six or nine months,” he announced.
