Barcelona President Joan Laporta commented on the team’s relegation to the Europa League this season:
“The draw softened the situation a bit: Barcelona against Manchester United is a Champions League game. There are a lot of European teams playing there, which are very strong. The Europa League is an important tournament. Of course, this is not the Champions League, but we will approach this tournament with sporting anger. It is important that we have recovered and overcome the situation that could lead to the bankruptcy of the club.
Judging by the quality of the game, we could have reached the knockout stages of the Champions League, but due to certain circumstances, we were not able to score the required number of points.”
