A month and a half after the release of Overwatch 2, the developers have taken stock. In a post published on the blog, they evoke the points of possible improvements by mentioning in particular the cosmetics and the classified parts.

The problematic launch Overwatch 2 is now far behind Blizzard, but all is not yet rosy for the second installment in the saga that has become free-to-play. Among the aspects of the game that frustrate players is the system for unlocking cosmetics that are too time-consuming or even the new system implemented for ranked games. Regarding the first, the development team behind the game recognizes that there are efforts to be made. She talks about it in a developer diary she publishes on her site:
There would be a lot to say on the subject, but to begin with, it must be admitted that the team is not entirely satisfied with the experience the game offers at the moment. There are a lot of aspects we like: completing a series of daily/weekly challenges or getting a new item for one of your favorite characters can be awesome! But we must also recognize that the current gaming experience deserves some improvements on which we will work.

In this same post, she also joins words to actions. While recognizing that the road is long and that some changes will take time, the developers are already revealing their plans regarding cosmetics. Actions will be taken from season 2, which will arrive on December 06 with a new map and the heroes and all the tank Rammatra :
For Season 2, we’ve tweaked the rewards slightly so that each event has a skin that you can unlock through play, in addition to the other cosmetics we usually offer. We’ll also be continuing our Drops programs on Twitch so you can earn skins and in-game items by supporting your favorite streamers. We want future seasons to be more rewarding than Season 1 as we work on our long-term plans.
For Season 3 and beyond, we plan to make changes to the battle pass, create more interesting challenges, as well as more addictive and game-centric progression systems. We will soon be able to tell you about some of the these changes, but others will take a little longer.
While waiting for an update to the progression system, players can already find Mei as well as the various nerfs of Zarya, Genji, D.VA and Sombra : after a delay to resolve a critical problemthe patch was finally deployed yesterday on the servers.
