During a recent interview granted to MCV, Shuhei Yoshidahistoric face of Sony management and in recent years became Head of PlayStation Indies, discussed the new PlayStation Plus and in particular of the Extra tier of the subscription service.
According to Yoshida’s words, PlayStation Plus Extra essentially arises from the ashes of PlayStation Now, a service that has been discontinued since Sony revamped PS Plus. Apparently, the intent of the Japanese company was to provide a richer offer to subscribers by proposing a sort of “Best of ” of the titles that were once included in PS Now.
“When we moved from the old PS Plus to the new PS Plus, we looked at the entire catalog of games included in PS Now and we didn’t just move these games to PS Plus Extra, we completely overhauled the list and we tried to create the collection “Best of” of high-quality games, from indie to AAA. So I believe there are now over 100 high-quality games available in the PS Plus extra tier.”
PlayStation Plus Extras includes, in addition to the benefits of the tier Essentialsalso a huge catalog of games for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, while the tier Premium is dedicated to those who don’t want to miss PS1, PS2 and PS3 classics in their collection. It seems that on the occasion of Black Friday, a 25% discount on all PlayStation Plus tiers is coming.
