Theories about the development problems caused by the Xbox Series S recur cyclically in the discussions held by the community and by the industry insiders themselves. Tomek Gop, Lead Producer of Flying Wild Hog, currently working on the shooter with monsters Evil West, also intervenes in the discussion.
During an interview granted to XboxDynasty.de, the exponent of the Polish software house takes its cue from the work he has done on the graphic modes of Evil West to explain that “the main difference between Series X and Series S lies in the choice of graphic presets: as far as Evil West is concerned, on Series X it will be possible to select the Performance or Quality modes, while on Series S there will be only the 1080p option at 30fps. We could have increased that framerate target but in doing so we would not have been able to guarantee 60fps, so we decided to lock it at 30fps because we believe it is a better solution than a dynamic framerate that would have fluctuated between 30 and 60fps”.
When asked by his interviewers on the question of the limitations of the Xbox Series S, Gop underlines how “why should he limit this gen? We are not obliged to perfect graphic parity between Series X and Series S, therefore there are no limitations or impositions for developers. At the same time, I must say that Xbox Series S is a truly excellent productalso from a purely economic and market point of view: I know many people who use it as an all-in-one system for family entertainment”.
