Never has the Chainsaw Man series been so popular! With the release of the anime overseen by MAPPA, manga sales soared last October. This month, the numbers continue to swell as Tatsuki Fujimoto’s work reaches an exceptional milestone.
The shonen of the moment
If there is a shonen to remember at the end of the year, it’s him! Chainsaw Man revs his chainsaw engine to carve up manga’s number one genre and deliver a multi-faceted work, packed with high-octane action and schoolboy humor.
Published since 2018, Tatsuki’s manga has been back on the manga scene for some time. The release, since last October, from the MAPPA anime, ended up offering a real resurgence of popularity to the work and definitely registered it among the shonens to follow. After 11 volumes already published in France, Tatsuki Fujimoto is currently working on Part 2 of Chainsaw Man, the chapters of which are published weekly by the Shueisha. With us, these chapters are available for free on the publisher’s Manga Plus app.
In the meantime, Crunchyroll manga (formerly Kazé) is offering the first 11 volumes in France. The anime is such a hit that it only took three weeks of release to boost manga sales like never before. It’s very simple, between last December and September 2022, 4 million copies had passed. Since the release of the anime and after three weeks, 2 million copies sold have come to inflate these sales. Today, a new course has just been passed.
Everybody’s a Chainsaw Man fan
The information was reported in the Japanese talk show AmeTalk, as well as by the official Twitter account of Crunchyroll Manga. According to these sources, Chainsaw Man has just passed the milestone of 20 million volumes in circulation. If we take into account the 12th volume just released in Japan, that’s an average of 1.6 million sales per volume. Sacred figures, which then testify to the growing popularity of the work of Tatsuki Fujimoto. For now, since the anime aired, 4 million sales have already been added in barely a month and a half.
