Today is an extremely important date for Naughty Dog, which celebrates the fifteenth birthday of one of its most loved series ever. In fact, 15 years have passed since that now distant one November 19, 2007day when Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune has landed on the US market in the PlayStation 3 version. Happy birthday, Nathan!
In Europe we were forced to wait a few more weeks, until 7 December 2007 to be exact, to take control of Nathan Drake, an adventurous young hopeful who at the time still had everything to prove. The curs of Santa Monica had for years spent developing successful platforms with anthropomorphic animals and fantastic characters (we are clearly talking about Crash and Jak & Daxter), therefore the new Indiana Jones was understandably received with a mixture of curiosity and distrust from the users of Sony, which by the way also had a great desire to squeeze your own PlayStation 3 just purchased for 500 and more euros.
The story, in any case, speaks for itself: in the following years Nathan Drake has established himself as one of the most iconic characters in the history of PlayStation and video games all, making a comeback time and time again in a series of critically acclaimed and gamer-loving sequels. Uncharted Drake’s Fortune, specifically, also returned to new life eight years later as part of the Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection developed by Bluepoint Games, which polished the first three chapters of the series by proposing them on PlayStation 4.
What is your best Uncharted memory: Drake’s Fortune and Nathan? For Naughty Dog president Evan Wells is definitely the character of King Eddy: “There are many aspects of the first Uncharted that I love, but if I had to pick just one, then I’d go with Eddy Raja. He’s still one of my favorite characters from the franchise to this day. He’s obviously a villain, but it’s clear that he and Nathan had a history together and they haven’t always found themselves on opposite sides”.
