Ukrainian wrestler Zhan Beleniukwho ran for president of the National Olympic Committee, commented on the election results.
“I have no special comments. The only thing is why it was decided to hold the assembly in this format, given that we have constant power outages, the Internet connection is interrupted. The Executive Committee is located in Ukraine and can take part offline in the event, which takes place every four years, when the President of the NOC of Ukraine is elected. The elections were held online and on the platform proposed by the NOC: so to speak, “in a foreign field”. But we don’t complain about anything.
We have certain questions about the NOC charter, because now it looks like a closed joint stock company. Our plans included changes to this charter: to make it more open, given that the previous president headed it for 17 years and many changes were made under the rule of Sergei Bubka.
