Not all the news arrive together with a new official firmware or accompanied by a changelog. According to reports arriving from overseas, Sony has started the rollout of a series of small yet relevant ones PlayStation 5 dashboard changesespecially the section Explore – which continues to be a US exclusive.
For a few hours now, the Explore page for selected US gamers is no longer limited to showing new posts from the PlayStation Blog, but also friends activity and a convenient tool for keep track of unlocked trophies (and how long until the next rank is reached). As Push Square points out, scrolling through the Explore section of the PS5 dashboard you can now come across updates from followed games, official “From PlayStation” merchandise with various trailers (including the PlayStation VR2 trailer), plus videos and screenshots taken by your PlayStation Network friends.
With these postings, the Explore section went further brought closer to the glories of the What’s New section of the PlayStation 4, which many players still regret. Unfortunately, the PS5 Explore page has been a US exclusive since November 2020, having never been made available to European gamers. It is possible that Sony’s intention is to bring it to the Old Continent and to the rest of the world only when it is completed and the new update seems to be a further step in this direction. Find a taste of the dashboard restyling in the screenshot attached at the bottom of this news or directly at the source.
Meanwhile, the development of PlayStation features also continues in other directions: Sony has recently filed a new patent for a tool capable of pausing games when users are not active, as well as continuing research in the NFT and Blockchain fields.
