With its hybrid concept, the Nintendo Switch has conquered the entire planet and the Kyoto firm has rediscovered the aura that was its own during its greatest successes. However, before arriving at the model that we know, the beauty has gone through countless intermediate stages. At the time, it had a code name: the NX. It was under this name that it was initially presented to studios and developers.
The creation of a console (or even a product for short) goes through many stages and it is not uncommon for a code name, assigned at the very beginning of development, to be kept for a very long time. On several occasions, the history of video games has shown that machine names – which have become canonical – were not validated until late. For the Nintendo Switch, the code name NX was used for a very long time, but nothing had really circulated, concretely, on the subject.
A first logo for the NX
Before presenting its console under the name Switch, Nintendo used the term NX for NeXt-Generation and it was under this name that the concept was presented to developers from various major studios handpicked. We had to wait, but users managed to get their hands on a new element: the logo, and even the animation of the NX logo! It was by extracting files from an unfinished copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (in development) that those interested came across this unpublished sequence. And how often, they did not hesitate to make everyone benefit on the web. Years after the rumors surrounding the NX, which became the Nintendo Switch, here is the prototype boot!
The Nintendo Switches Codename was the NX and this was an early Logo / Boot Up animation used during development of the Console ( It was found in the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Prototype ) This was never seen outside Nintendo pic.twitter.com/B1bS5zCKOu
