Battlefield 2042 is entering Season 3: The new season is live. Around the time of activation, DICE installed update 3.0.0, which contained new content for the first-person shooter. At this point we want to give you the patch notes – and go into the changes and innovations. One of the highlights of the new season is the new Spearhead map, which is designed for close-quarters combat. “Nestled in the rock formations of the Swedish wilderness you will find the Nordvik facilities, where high-tech weapons and components for weather machines are manufactured,” writes DICE.
This is new with Season 3 “Escalation”
Also new is Specialist Rasheed Zain, who can use his XM370A Airblast Launcher to pull enemies out of cover and then take them out. Also, he can regenerate health much faster than others. In Season 3 you also turn off the EMKV90-TOR. The tank comes with two modes: in siege mode, the EMKV90 is more stable, the rate of fire of the railgun main gun is increased; mobility mode allows you to quickly traverse terrain and obstacles. In addition, in Battlefield 2042 (buy now €29.99) you grab new weapons: In season 3, the Rorsch Mk-4, NVK-P125 and NVK-S22 are available in the first-person shooter. With the LMG XM8 and A-91, other archive weapons have also entered the arsenal.

XP boosts and revised ping system
A new Battle Pass is also available with Battlefield 2042 Season 3. XP Boosts are new: “These are items at a certain number of ranks that grant you additional XP for a certain period of time. XP Boosts are consumed as soon as you get them, but the timer only runs when you are active in a match. The first XP boost is available at Rank 18 of the Season 3 Battle Pass,” DICE said in the Patch Notes for Update 3.0.0.
The patch notes show that the developers have revised the ping system. Pressing the ping button no longer places a position ping, but instead searches for targets such as soldiers, vehicles, or objects near the placed ping. Also, if there is a threat within the radius, that target will be immediately pinged for a period of time. The update is rounded off by numerous gameplay improvements. DICE announces that, for example, an issue has been fixed where Q-spotting would not work as intended when pinging enemy aircraft from more than 300 meters away. In addition, soldier movements should now be displayed more smoothly when changing direction. You can find the full patch notes on Publisher EA’s website.
