A legend returns: Almost two years after their acclaimed first Next Generation appearance, Midway’s flagship fighters are back in ‘Mortal Kombat’. While in the predecessor it was necessary to smash the alliance of the magicians Shang Tsung and Quan Chi, this time the threat is even worse. The gripping render intro brings you closer to the problem: an awakened demon shakes the existence of the various realms to their very foundations. Even the thunder god Raiden, who has proven himself to be a vigilant protector in numerous conflicts, seems powerless. Once again, the fate of the world is in your hands.
To eliminate the problem, see in Deadly Alliance different variants available. In the classic arcade mode, you clobber opponent after opponent in changing order in different, partly interactive stages. At the end, the inevitable showdown with the fearsome boss awaits. Twelve fighters are initially available to you, with another dozen waiting to be unlocked. In addition to greats like Scorpion, Sub-Zero or Raiden, long-missed fighters or never-before-seen warriors will be there. Baraka, Kabal, Ermac or Nightwolf make their first appearance in high-resolution 3D. Noob Saibot and Smoke make nostalgics click their tongues. Mercenary Dairou, leather bride Kira or shadow figure Havik, on the other hand, are making their debut.
As is typical of the series, all characters have several special moves that you can use to heat up your opponents particularly effectively. Simple key combinations let fireballs fly through the air or lightning rain down. As in the predecessor, each character has three different fighting styles, characterized by different combos or the use of a weapon. You can easily switch back and forth between them using the shoulder button.
