The sci-fi horror game The Callisto Protocol is probably one of the most anticipated titles of the gaming year 2022. The developers Striking Distance Studios impress in pre-released gameplay videos with creative but ultra-brutal gameplay and dark atmosphere. As part of our preview, the impression solidified that the spiritual successor to Dead Space could be a real hit. However, previously published details about the planned Season Pass make you sit up and take notice. If you want to see all the death animations, you have to dig deep into your pockets despite the full price.
The Callisto Protocoll appears completely uncut in Germany
On Friday, December 2nd, 2022, the time has come. Then The Callisto Protocol (buy now) will be released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC. From the creators of the cult classic Dead Space, this dark and terrifying sci-fi extravaganza features gameplay elements that emphasize strategic enemy dismemberment.
But your character can also get it badly. The extremely brutal screen deaths of the protagonist seem to be a reason why the title was canceled in Japan due to the threat of censorship. In Germany, however, The Callisto Protocol will be released 100 percent uncut, to the delight of horror fans. However, if you want to enjoy all the death sequences, you have to pay far more than the full price of 60 to 80 euros.
The Callisto Protocoll: Details from the Season Pass are known – further death animations cost extra
Striking Distance Studios, developers of the spiritual successor to Dead Space, have announced details of The Callisto Protocol Season Pass on Steam. You get this with the purchase of the Deluxe Edition, which will cost an extra 20 euros in addition to the full price of 59,999 for the PC version.
This Season Pass includes new skins, an additional level of difficulty and an additional game mode. The accompanying story DLC will also take you deeper into the game’s horrific mysteries. A notable detail of the Season Pass is that it includes 13 additional protagonist death animations and 12 additional animated screen deaths of enemies.

It won’t be long before you can get really scared in space again: The survival horror title The Callisto Protocol is in the starting blocks. We took a closer look at the carnage and will tell you new information about the spiritual successor to Dead Space.
That could upset horror fans. In any case, the development studio is under criticism because CEO Glen A. Schofield romanticized 15 hours of crunch a day (“You do it because you love it.”). The fact that numerous death animations are hidden behind a paywall in a full-price sci-fi horror game should not go down well with players and leave a stale aftertaste.
