FIFA’s ban on the wearing of captain’s armbands with the words “One Love” has caused a backlash in many national teams. The German national team expressed its protest yesterday before the match against Japan.
But Denmark seems ready to go the furthest in its protest. The head of the local football federation, Jesper Meller, does not even rule out leaving FIFA:
“This decision was not taken now. We understood everything for a long time. We have been discussing this in Scandinavia since August.
Now we have rethought it. I assume that there may be problems if Denmark leaves on its own. It is necessary to think about the question of how to restore confidence in FIFA. We must evaluate what happened and form a strategy together with our Scandinavian colleagues.”
