Laura Bijaudy is “Altaya”. The French has been active in the cosplay scene for almost ten years. She creatively integrates her wheelchair into her costumes – for example as a ship or a throne. An interview about the fascination of cosplay and how to make your dreams come true.
Hello Altaya, tell us about yourself!
Altaya: Hello, my name is Laura, also known as Altaya Cosplay. I recently became a member of the “Lovecraft Asso” cosplay club. I’m originally from Châteaurenard, a small village in the 13th département in southern France. But I moved to Valence in the Drôme department to study at the art school there. I am now in my fifth year of my master’s degree. I also work in the hospitality industry and have a little cat named Akira – in honor of Akira Toriyama! But here I tell you about my role as a cosplayer in a wheelchair. Or rather: “half a day in a wheelchair”!

How did you get into cosplay?
Altaya: My passion for cosplay started when I was a child. I spent them on “Dragon Ball”, “Naruto”, “GTO”, “One Piece” and more. My older brother and my cousins introduced me to this world…
