The Alpine range is undergoing a revolution to go 100% electric. We thus discover new information on the SUV model of the sports manufacturer of the Renault group. The technical sheet already looks very impressive, especially coming from F1.
An electric SUV straight from Formula 1!
For motor racing fans, the Formula 1 season is over, yet our Autocar colleagues give us a glimpse of the future Alpine SUV. Many engineers who take care of the F1 team are also responsible for developing the electric part of this Alpine GT X-Over.
We now know that this electric SUV will be powerful, spacious and with good autonomy. Based on the CMF-EV chassis architecture of the Megane E-Tech, the revolution will not be here. It is rather in the battery straight out of the Alpine Formula 1 team and its two engines that the future will be present. We also know that F1 engineers have optimized the aerodynamic development of road cars by 25 km of autonomy.
The tantalizing data sheet of the large Alpine electric car
The SUV market has saved some brands from bankruptcy. It is a type of model as much criticized as strongly purchased. We remember the arrival of Porsche with its Cayenne, which caused a lot of ink to flow. However, it is a real bestseller.
For Alpine, even if the financial situation is more favorable, the idea of an SUV, moreover electric, makes the fans of the first hour cringe. Alpine has a long history in sports cars and iconic models. Touching this brand did not please everyone. However, with its rebirth in recent years, the manufacturer is the envy.
The Alpine SUV intends to become the best-selling model on which the manufacturer can make money. For this, the technical sheet must be properly completed. We thus find a battery of 87 kWh and a motor at the front of 215 horsepower and 268 at the rear. This represents a cumulative power that is close to 500 HP all the same. With the instant torque offered by electric, the result will be explosive. Autonomy will be over 515 km, which is still very good for a very sporty car.
There would be several motorized versions, a first with the most powerful motor in the rear and a second with both motors. This second variation would make it a four-wheel drive, enough to be able to survey new terrain, impossible for a current Alpine. However, all of this has a cost. If the sale price is not yet known, the weight will be 2.5 tons. A beautiful baby who should arrive around 2028.
For the visual, we only have one silhouette at the moment. Autocar has made a model, which looks quite realistic.
