The Chinese tech giant NetEase becomes a minority shareholder in the Rebel Wolves developer studio, which was founded in February.
Founded in February this year by former CD Projekt Red veterans, the Rebel Wolves development studio will now receive financial support from NetEase. Thanks to his investment, the Chinese tech giant will become a minority shareholder of the studio.
Rebel Wolves says it will remain operationally independent and retain full creative control. The IP that is currently being worked on also remains in the possession of the developer studio.
Said IP is a dark AAA fantasy game based on Unreal Engine 5 and is scheduled to be released for PC and new-gen consoles.
“Having one of the world’s leading games companies behind our vision is a huge leap of faith and a validation for the entire Rebel Wolves team,” said studio founder and game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz.
“The funding provided by NetEase was the last missing piece to go full throttle. With the resources at our disposal to create a world-class AAA game, we can now focus on what matters most: development.”
