Today, e-sport around League of Legends fascinates more and more spectators, but also players who dream of being professionals. However, these players who know the rules of the competition at their fingertips, once they have reached the top level, sometimes do not hesitate to break them, in particular for the greed. LoL Worlds 2022 in the rules, but not only…

Not so long ago, the competitive scene around League of Legends was in turmoil. And for good reason, we were in the midst of the international championships which ended in style during a spectacular final, on the night of November 5 to 6, which will remain etched in the memories of the Worlds thanks to the victory of the DRX team. against the formidable T1 on the score of 3 sets to 2. Overall, the Worlds matches have been hugely watched around the world, but there are sometimes stories that can tarnish the image of certain competitions, and yet we know that the Riot Games teams are uncompromising towards abusive behavior.

Recently, the developers of League of Legends announced that they were going to ally with Ubisoft in an effort to ban players with offensive language. But it is not only on this subject that Riot Games intends to tighten the screw since the leaders make it a point of honor that the rules are respected, and even more those which intervene within the framework of the tournaments. During the spring, Riot Games had been arrested on a strange case of rigged bets. First sanctions had been applied, but now that the investigation is well advanced, Riot Games has reinforced the reprisals for some!

After rigging bets, these players won’t touch LoL for quite a while

It’s been a few years now that the competitive scene of League of Legends authorizes betting on the outcome of tournaments or on the various events of a match. However, this gave bad ideas to a handful of Turkish players who wanted to jump at the chance to blow up their personal kitty. Thus, several players would have joined forces to manipulate the outcome of certain matches, clashes on which they had bet beforehand.. Vigilant on this type of behavior since a similar incident within the Chinese league last year, Riot Games had the TAL (Turkish Academy League) in its sights, especially because the company had been alerted to suspicious activity.

Pushed to carry out the investigation, the company Riot Games recently issued a first verdict on his site and, for the fourteen professional players incriminated, the reprisals are equal to the wrongdoing. As a reminder, they had bet on the outcome of certain matches, on specific events (first kill of the game, player elected MVP (Most Valuable Player)) and even hired people so that they make noise during the match in order to distract other players. To serve as an example, Riot Games has decided to ban them: some have been suspended for several yearslike Efehan “361efe” Ordulu, suspended for 5 years, or Ahmet Ömer “chr1sz” Mutlu, suspended for 4 years. Others do better with just a few monthslike Yigit “Lenom” Kantar, but Riot Games has not yet returned all the conclusions of its investigation. Thus, the duration of the final suspension of eight other players remains to be specified.
