Apparently, Apple is also in a shopping saga worthy of a Black Friday! After all, after the rumors pointing to a purchase of the English giant Manchester United, which recently entered a collision course with ‘our’ Cristiano Ronaldo, everything indicates that Apple also wants to get its hands on Disney.
Yes, you read that right… Some rumors point to an acquisition of Disney by Apple.
Apple wants to buy Manchester United and… Disney?
So, in case you didn’t know, Disney has changed its CEO again, with the commands of the Mickey Mouse giant returning to the hands of Bob Iger, who returns to his place, after 3 years in which Bob Chapek was in charge.
Apparently, this return is not even meant to be something ‘big’, but rather a move to put Disney, and everything that means (Marvel, Pixar, Lucasfilm and Fox), in the hands of the gigantic Apple. A company best known for the iPhone and MacBook, but also increasingly interested in entertainment.
Interestingly, this is not even the first time that the topic is on the table. Since there were plans for an acquisition in 2011, before the death of Steve Jobs.
The theory is simple… Bob Iger is a master of acquisitions and sales, and as such, this move could be his swan song. In short, the mission is to sell Disney, and then go for reform. But wait, these are just theories and rumours.
However, this was never going to be an easy mission!
Regulatory authorities are increasingly aware of this type of acquisitions. A great example of this is the time taken by the acquisition of Twitter, and also the time that Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision is taking.
The competition authority does not want already giant tech companies to get too big. Therefore, for this to go forward, the thing would have to be very well explained.
However, it is important to note that Apple’s biggest acquisition was Beats, for $3 billion.
