After Black Friday, it’s Cyber Monday’s turn. Since 2008, this special shopping day has been entirely devoted to the best electronics deals. Cyber Monday has also made its appearance in our country. Large retailers such as Bol.com, Coolblue and MediaMarkt are jumping on the bandwagon of the biggest bargain festival of the year.

About 11 years ago, some savvy marketing guys in e-commerce started this trend. Back then, the two shopping days were still clearly and nicely divided. Black Friday was the stampede for Thanksgiving parties for brick-and-mortar stores and Cyber Monday, the first Monday after, was for the web shops of those same brick-and-mortar stores to sell everything related to electronics at ridiculously low prices.
Meanwhile, the two are no longer as separate as they should be. Black Friday nowadays has deals that last almost two weeks and many retailers (including in Belgium) start certain deals at least a week in advance.
Because many of the Black Friday deals just keep going, they end up in the waters of Cyber Monday. So you may wonder what makes the difference between the two shopping days.
