Could Gran Turismo 7 be among the next titles from PlayStation Studios to be released for PC? In a recent interview, series creator Kazunori Yamauchi commented on this scenario.
Various PlayStation Studios titles have been released for the PC in recent months, including the action role-playing game Horizon: Zero Dawn, Days Gone, God of War and the cooperative 3D platformer Sackboy: A Big Adventure.
And as it recently became apparent, the next PC port could already be the crisp action title “Returnal” from Housemarque are in the starting blocks. But what are the chances that the racing game “Gran Turismo 7” will eventually appear for the PC? Kazunori Yamauchi, the creative mind behind the series, asked this question in an interview with GT Planet.
Without going into more detail, Yamauchi pointed out that he and the developers at Polyphony Digital are quite open to a conversion for the PC.
The technique is crucial
Yamauchi also explained that when porting, it must be ensured that a platform is able to handle “Gran Turismo 7” with a correspondingly stable performance. “Yeah, I think so,” said Yamauchi when asked if a PC version of the racing game was being considered. “Gran Turismo is a very finely tuned title. There aren’t many platforms that can natively display the game in 4K/60p.”
“So we’re making that possible by narrowing down the platform. It’s not an easy topic, but of course we’ll look at it and think about it.” Since modern gaming PCs shouldn’t lack the necessary hardware performance, we can assume that Yamauchi’s statements will primarily refer to PC users with weaker systems and the numerous configurations on the PC.
