According to the creative director of Criterion Games, there is still a lot of passion for the “Burnout” series. A comeback in the foreseeable future is out of the question.
At Eurogamer, Creative Director Kieran Crimmins couldn’t help but wonder if Burnout might one day return. He replied that nothing was planned in this regard. But there is still passion for the action-packed racing game series, as the following quote makes clear.
A unique racing game concept
“But when it comes to the two games that the studio is most passionate about, of course they’re Need for Speed and Burnout. We love both of these franchises and Burnout has a unique racing game concept that I think would be absolutely phenomenal right now,” explains Crimmins.
The developer would not be averse: “And I hope that if everything goes well with these games and we can expand the team, we might be able to make one of these games too. It’s not in the immediate future plans or anything, but man, that would be really fun.”
It’s been 14 years since Criterion Games released Burnout Paradise. Ten years later – in 2018 – a remaster was released, which was published in the Presse did well. Since then there has been radio silence again. After all, in 2019 came a spiritual successor called “Dangerous Driving” out of here. Part two should actually follow this year, but there is still no concrete release date.
