Company VK Play conducted a survey among Russians over 18 and found that about half of the parents whose children love video games support this hobby. About 20% of parents believe that thanks to this, children learn new technologies better, 14% say that video games help children emotionally, and 12% simply call them good entertainment for children.
Moreover, one in two parents with gamer children play video games with their children. And one in five plays with them on a regular basis. In addition, many children, 27% of those surveyed, themselves want to play with their parents from time to time, including with mom and dad at the same time (15%).
Also, parents with gamer children believe that playing together with them helps to improve relationships: they bring generations together, allow them to learn more about each other and give their children more time. At the same time, more than a third of the parents surveyed use video games to encourage their children: 16% of respondents allow children to play in case of order and discipline at home, 10% give games to children in case of academic success, and 8% for active reading and learning foreign languages.
