Video games will soon no longer be just a thing for humans. An English startup, Joipawdecided to make one console with video games designed for our four-legged friends, dogs.
The Joipaw Console will feature a “dog-friendly touchscreen, a height-adjustable stand and an automatic treat dispenser.” The device will run interactive games, such as a “hit the mole”-style challenge, that will be “always new and challenging.” “When you add speakers, a microphone and a Full HD camera, you have the smartest dog technology product ever,” says Joipaw.
The idea of the console Joipaw was born when co-founder Dersim Avdar was looking for a way to entertain his dog, Kawet, when no one was home, and was inspired by his passion for games.
Although the idea may seem extravagant, Avdar quickly realized the health benefits resulting from this type of interaction. Avdar said he read about a study that revealed simple touch-screen games provide potential cognitive benefits to aging dogs.
Avdar wants to take a cue from this study and “carry it forward”, even if he underlines that no game can replace the time a dog spends in the company of its owners. “Our goal with this initiative is to promote a better understanding and inclusion of dogs and of animals in human societies, showing their intelligence to the world,” Avdar said.
