Cash on delivery may feel like a relic from the days of catalog shopping and the early days of online shopping. Nevertheless, the payment method is still offered in many places today. Normally this is not a problem, but with “heavy traffic” before Christmas this leads to time bottlenecks.
As Stern reports, DHL will no longer deliver cash on delivery shipments to the front door from November. In these “weeks with a particularly high volume of shipments”, the transaction simply takes too much time in the hectic everyday life – especially since most purchase amounts are not round and it is therefore necessary to exchange small change.
That is why the shipments may be brought to the branch for collection – even though you were at home at the supposed time of delivery. So this can lead to confusion when tracking the shipment. You must then pick up the package yourself in any case – if you insist on cash on delivery, then you should have it delivered directly to the branch.
