The rescue for the DCU from Warner Bros. Discovery seems close: At the end of October it was announced that James Gunn and Peter Safran would be appointed heads of DC Studios. They will take on film, TV and animation projects related to Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Co. Gunn recently revealed that another format will be added to the Warner universe. According to him, the DCU should also include video games.

Recently appointed DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran have yet to announce any concrete plans for the DC Universe. Of course, fans are wondering how things will continue with their favorite heroes. Gunn has occasionally shared pictures of DC characters on Twitter since the position was announced, which inevitably led to speculation. Fans suspected that there were intentions to introduce the featured DC characters to the DCU over the next few years. Among them were Deadman, Mr. Terrific and Jonah Hex. The latter is even one of Gunn’s personal favourites.
When asked by a fan if he and Safran are “planning more TV series featuring DC characters that complement the DCEU storyline,” Gunn confirmed that they are is on the agendabefore revealing that another format will be part of Warner Bros.’ DC world.

According to Gunn, the DCU will not only be interconnected across film, television and animation, but will also encompass video games. The co-head of the studio confirmed this on Twitter after a fan asked him if there were any plans to connect the DCU to games as well.
Of course, he didn’t reveal any more and left his followers dry. In the thread, however, fans agree that DC games should be strictly separated from the DCU. Joy about this news has not yet broken out. Now it’s a matter of waiting to see what Gunn really has in mind with these plans.
