Proud to have launched his own manga after more than 30 years at Nintendo, a Japanese artist is embarking on its video game adaptation. An amazing project to discover soon on Nintendo Switch!
The amazing project of a Nintendo artist (F-Zero, Zelda, Starfox)
Takaya Imamura is not a man like the others. His name is linked to more than three decades spent alongside Nintendo and it was with amazement that we learned that the artist was going to embark on a whole new adventure: that of manga. Takaya Imamura has indeed left his mark on prestigious licenses inseparable from Nintendo consoles, starting with F-Zero, Starfox and even The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask. It must be said that the man has always been able to shine by his versatility, able to work as well as artistic director, as designer, director or co-producer on countless projects.
Last September, the insatiable Takaya Imamura therefore launched his own manga called Omega 6, which Omaké Books had the good idea to publish in French in two versions: a standard one in black and white and a collector’s item in full color large format. But this little story doesn’t end there…
After months of cryonics in their spaceship, Thunder and Kyla are finally awake. They are bounty hunters and the target they were chasing after has finally been located on an average planet. But just when they thought they’d make short work of him, their opponent Petrogaze turns out to be much tougher than expected… – Omega 6 (Omaké Books)
Omega 6: from manga to video game on Nintendo Switch!
His recent reconversion into a mangaka has not made the Nintendo artist lose his bearings, who is now announcing a whole new stage for his project. Takaya Imamura has indeed decided to bring the universe of his manga to a video game and it will happen quickly! Developed by the Japanese studio Happy Meal, the software titled Omega 6: The video game is planned for next year on Nintendo Switch.

This is the Omega 6 video game I announced on Blitz, with a 16 bit console style, and all the graphics will be done by myself! (Except for fonts.) – Takaya Imamura sur Twitter
Contrary to current productions, Omega 6: The video game will be similar to a retro-futuristic text-based adventure game designed with typical 16-bit era production. A singular choice that will speak to all those nostalgic for the Super Nintendo / Megadrive period and which seems to fit particularly well with the theme of the Omega 6 manga. However, we already know that the scenario of the video game will not follow that of the paper version, Takaya Imamura having preferred to bet on an unpublished story involving new characters.
The artist also specified that he was in charge of all the aspects related to the artistic direction: illustrations, design, graphics in pixel art… Note that the publisher Omaké Books is planning a special evening on Wednesday November 30 in the presence of Takaya Imamurabut it will take place in small groups with the luckiest fans.
The Omega 6 manga is available in bookstores or from Omake Books. Omega 6: The video game is scheduled for 2023 on Nintendo Switch.
