Exactly one month after the announcement of The Witcher Remake on Unreal Engine 5, the leaders of CD Projekt take the opportunity offered them by the company’s latest financial report to report to us that the updated re-edition of the first RPG starring Geralt of Rivia will take on the contours of an open world adventure.
In the latest CD Projekt RED quarterly report, the European software house discussed the video games currently in development and, referring to The Witcher Remake, candidly admitted that it will be a “open world RPGa single-player story-driven experience.”
The followers of the Strigo who will revisit the places that were the backdrop to the first chapter of The Witcher, therefore, will find them within a much broader scenario and with a typically free roaming structurea playful, narrative and content approach not too dissimilar to the one adopted by CD Projekt in The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt and expanded with the Night City gigolopolis explored by Cyberpunk 2077 enthusiasts.
The open world transformation of the first chapter of The Witcher with the Remake on Unreal Engine 5, on the other hand, was suggested by the CD boss himself Project Adam Badowski when he explained, on the sidelines of the official reveal of the title, that “returning to these very important places and recreating the game from scratch for the new generation of fans will allow us to offer them a great experience, if not wider“.
