Driven by the World Cup in Qatar, FIFA 23 was the best-selling video game in Great Britain on Black Fridaythe EA Sports game saw its sales jump 95% on a weekly basis during Black Friday.
FIFA 23 was featured in deals at all major retailers with the price dropped to £29 or £39 (depending on the platform), an obviously essential offer for English players. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet sold 64% less than in the week of launch, a significant drop but in line with their predecessors, for example the remakes of Diamond and Pearl sold 58% less in the second week in the UK while Pokemon Arceus it plummeted 72% seven days after launch.
A good success also seems to have had Sonic Frontiers with sales up 200% as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe sales rocket even higher thanks to strong sales of the Nintendo Switch bundle which includes a copy of MK8 Deluxe and three months of Nintendo Switch Online membership.
At the moment the definitive ranking is not available but according to the opinion of Chris Dring of GamesIndustry, Black Friday 2022 was not particularly brilliant in Britain if compared to previous years, a probable sign of how the economic crisis is particularly felt.
