The years pass and aging never takes long to show its first signs… Humans and animals alike, unfortunately, no one is spared. But since the dog is reputed to be man’s best friend, an Anglo-Saxon company is developing a video game console that would be beneficial for the longevity of our dear four-legged friends.
“We don’t stop playing because we get old, we get old because we stop playing”
As we know, age is a factor on which we cannot act directly and the effects of aging are inevitable as the years pass. Hygiene of life, diet, sport… Many means of prevention exist to limit the process but certain studies prove that video games also have their share of therapeutic benefits. For example, Japanese researchers have even managed to create a video game, Meteor Blastor, to detect glaucoma, a degenerative disease of the optic nerve whose frequency increases precisely with age.
So much research and examples that gave the idea to an English company to develop a video game console… but intended for dogs who, like human beings, are not spared the effects of aging.
Wii Fit but for dogs
This rather innovative idea comes to us from across the Channel, and more precisely from a British startup called Joipaw. Committed to helping your pooch “live a longer, healthier and happier life”, the firm is proud to present the first video game console for dogs, especially older ones. It embeds a system with a saliva-resistant touch screen with a height-adjustable stand to fit all dog sizes, plus an automatic treat dispenser for rewards.
Everything offers puzzle games to stimulate the dog’s cognitive abilitiesas you can discover through the video below.
But that’s not all, the console also records physical activity (walks, games, etc.) and carries out a real follow-up of his healthlike a real Wii Fit for dogs.
No release date has been specified., even if you can already reserve the product on this page. For his part, Dersim Avdar, the co-founder of Joipaw affirms that there is still a lot of work to do, especially in terms of pricing, without forgetting the establishment of a world ranking. Soon canine esport?
