In order to democratize the new concept of virtual world in 3D and to train in future professions of the metaverse, the former Facebook chose France to establish its educational HQ. Meta has already announced the names of the first French cities which will soon host the Metaverse Academy.
Last June, Mark Zuckerberg’s group, resolutely turned towards the virtual world, announced the imminent arrival of an educational project called: “Metaverse Academy”. This initiative was advertised as training aimed at developing future jobs related to the metaverse. Provided by Meta and the French educational start-up Simplon, the Metaverse Academy will soon be a reality.
It is in the Côte d’Azur, in the cities of Nice and Marseille, that this new formation around the metaverse will welcome its first students. The opening is imminent since the Academy will open its doors on December 5 in both cities.
Concretely, the teaching will aim to train about twenty students on various subjects related to metaverses. From the design to the development of immersive technologies, the courses will necessarily involve the use of virtual, augmented and mixed reality.
At the start of the school year, the selected students will be able to devote themselves to the 3D development tools of the metaverse in order to create ever more realistic environments, conducive to the development of multiple interactions.
“The training will not be centered in itself on the use of the metaverse, it is something which remains rather vague. We will only be interested in 3D and interaction in universes; it will be a pedagogy by face-to-face projects” explains Frédéric Bardeau, president of Simplon.
During the first 4 months, the students of the metaverse will participate in a first session of “individual intensive training”. Subsequently, the students will benefit from work-study training over 16 months, in the ten partner companies of the project (Accenture, Virteem and Wixar, Abim or even Cross the age.)
This first experience will make it possible to introduce other cities later. In total, Meta and Simplon plan to train around a hundred students in Paris, Lyon, Marseille and Nice in one year.
Despite the discouraging figures of Meta, the giant continues to invest in its metaverse project whatever the cost. Zuckerberg’s group seems to have understood user expectations. In this sense, the giant is moving more towards the development and evolution of its digital world project.
This early placement, will surely provide the opportunity for META to discover and develop possible skills necessary for the metaverse, in view of future demands in the sector.
Companies around the metaverse are constantly growing and the demand for skills is very real. As a result, training in emerging professions in the metaverse sector is essential. This project will have the merit of questioning the needs of the industry and defining the professional potential of this concept for the years to come.
