By posting Overwatch 2 Season 2 trailerBlizzard Entertainment has provided us with the perfect assist to take stock of all the content and news coming to the free-to-play hero shooter starting next week.
Overwatch 2 Season 2 will officially begin Tuesday 6 December bringing with it a flood of novelties, starting with the new hero Ramattra, the first Tank with the ability to completely shapeshift (he has a defensive and an offensive one) and change his style of play at any moment during the matches. Born as a war machine, he later joined the Shambali order of monks, to which Zenyatta also belongs. Over time, he stopped pursuing dialogue and began to justify any means necessary to defend his fellow omnics, thus becoming the leader of Sector Zero. In theme with the new hero also debuts the new Scambali Monastery transport map. Its winding paths were once traveled by Zenyatta and Ramattra.
Taking advantage of the feedback provided by players in recent weeks, Blizzard will take advantage of the launch of Season 2 to introduce a series of balances to the heroes, starting with the controversial Sojourn. While still a very big challenge for less skilled players, the data shows that the attacking heroine is dominating the higher levels of competitive play. For this reason, Blizzard will reduce the lethality of the Rail Rifle from a distance, enticing players to shorten the distances. On the other hand, the right mouse button will become more powerful. Doomfist, meanwhile, will receive significant changes to better support his role as the team’s frontline, while still maintaining the playstyle that is at the heart of his identity. Other balances will affect Ana, Bastion, Junker Queen, Kiriko, Mercy and Symmetra, but for more details we have to wait for December 6th.
The theme of Season 2 will be the Greek mythology, therefore the maximum reward of the new Premium Battle Pass will be the new legendary model Queen of the Junker Zeus. As part of the paid Pass there will also be the legendary Ramattra Poseidon and the legendary Pharah Hades. These heroes and many more will come infused with new divine powers to participate in the new Battle for Olympus mode, which will be available for a limited time from January 5 to 19, 2023. During Season 2, also expect the recurring Winter Magic and Lunar Celebration events, featuring improved rewards for the occasion. Each Season 2 event, including Battle for Olympus, will have a model reward that can be earned by simply participating and completing challenges. Among the expected prizes are the epic model Brigitte Ice Queen, the legendary model Mercy Winged Victory and the legendary model Echo Kkachi.
It’s not over yet! Season 2 will also introduce new challenges for players to get new heroes they haven’t unlocked yet. This means that players who failed to unlock Kiriko in Overwatch 2 Season 1 or players starting Season 2 for the first time can unlock new heroes by selecting the Challenge for the hero they want to unlock, which will send them to the Zone first training camp to practice his skills, and then challenge them to win matches.
