Once again, in the rumor mill, we deal with the latest leaks, news and rumors from the video game industry. Last week the focus was on a possible remake of Metar Gear Solid 3 or a Rocket League mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. This week, in turn, the spotlight shines on the possibly leaked release period of GTA 6 and customer data that was apparently leaked at Gamestop.
GTA 6 – release period leaked?
Interesting information from the company has emerged in the negotiations between the British competition authority CMA and Microsoft regarding the acquisition of Activision Blizzard. In a list of successful “shooter” titles on the Playstation, which flush a lot of money into the coffers, the Grand Theft Auto series is listed among others. At first glance, it is piquant that a release in 2024 is explicitly mentioned here. However, this information does not refer to internal sources, but to a rumor article in the Tech Radar Gaming magazine. Accordingly, no new information about the next GTA was leaked here.
Gamestop leaks customer data?
According to numerous reports on Reddit, there were major problems in Gamestop’s online store last weekend. During the site’s Black Friday promotions, fields were sometimes automatically pre-filled with other customers’ data at check-out. This includes sensitive data such as name, credit card number or address.
In a statement to the Videogameschronicle website, Gamestop only spoke of a technical test with dummy data. However, further research by VGC revealed that numerous data sets could be assigned to real people.
