As of last week, the twelfth and final episode of the first season of Star Wars: Andor is available to stream on Disney Plus. We have already summarized what exactly happens in the finale of the sci-fi show in another message for you. An interview with Denise Gough, who starred in the role as Dedra Meero, has now revealed more exciting details surrounding the conclusion of Season 1. The actress reveals that a certain scene in the finale was even censored by Disney. Spoiler alert for Andor!
Monologue has been changed
Denise Gough’s first day of shooting started straight away with the funeral of Maarva Andor, played by Fiona Shaw. She was the adoptive mother of protagonist Cassian Andor and is seen one last time with a hologram message. It was precisely in this communication that Disney had to make a change. In the eyes of the mouse group, Andor’s team was probably a bit too rebellious here, as Denise Gough tells Empire Online.
“Fiona’s voice was over us. She doesn’t end up saying ‘Fight the Empire!’ though. She said ‘Fuck the Empire!’
If you take a really close look at the moment in Star Wars: Andor, you can actually tell what we’re meant to hear from Fiona Shaw. The scene was probably re-recorded afterwards.
