A European Union (EU) want to end the Airplane mode so that, when traveling by the safest means of transport in the world, we can use our smartphones, regardless of the height. For this, we will have our own frequencies in the 5G standard.
Passengers, in Europa, will thus be able to say goodbye to airplane mode, without wireless network communications during flights within Community space. It will be, as is easily understood, one of the biggest paradigm shifts in recent years.
Airplane Mode may finally drop in the European Union
So far, whenever we get on a plane and prepare to take off, the warning to turn off the smartphone or put it in Airplane Mode is something that any passenger has heard. The warning, common and systematic, could, however, fall in Europe.
At stake is the decision of the European Commission, taken on the 26th of November, and meanwhile released. At issue is the recommendation / obligation in force since the 1990s, then (and now), on the grounds that signal transmission and radiofrequency technologies could affect communications.
In this way, airlines force passengers to put smartphones and tablets in Airplane Mode, without connection to mobile networks / access to telecommunications.
The smartphone will not have to be isolated from the world during flights in Europe
The ratio being also not to interfere with the pilots’ communications, nor to cause potentially dangerous distractions. However, this reality will be gradually abandoned over the next few years, according to the European Commission itself.
Thus, faced with a mixture of fear from passengers and serious recommendation / imposition from airlines, whenever we fly our mobile phones are deprived of communications. Flight mode essentially puts the smartphone isolated from the world, ensuring there is no interference with communications.
In particular, it was argued that the cell phone could interfere with communications between pilots and flight controllers, especially during the most delicate phases such as taking off and landing the aircraft.
Gradually Airplane Mode will be obsolete in the European Community
It was on the 26th of November that the EU announced the end of airplane mode. Indeed, it will be possible to travel without this obligation, with access to 5G mobile networks being provided on board planes, with gradual application.
In this way, as companies equip their planes with the necessary equipment to ensure connection to 5G networks, we will not need to “deprive” our mobile phone of access to the Internet and conventional communications.
Finally, we recall that more recently some airlines such as Iberia and Norwegian already allowed users to access the plane’s Wi-Fi.
In addition, the Bluetooth connection also does not cause inconvenience, nor is it subject to impositions by several airlines such as RyanAir.
No more “Airplane Mode”!Passengers aboard flights in the EU🇪🇺will be able to use their mobile phones to the maximum of their capacity and features, just like with a ground-based #5G mobile network, within the equipped aircraft using so-called ‘pico-cell’.https://t.co/Ci5s0ATi4O
